With a new acquisition Geodis Logistics becomes Global Provider in Fast Moving Sector

Extremely dynamic despite the unfavorable economic environment, Geodis Logistics enters into a new acquisition of great strategic significance. To the continuing economic crisis, the big French company responds with further investments, with services expansion and a more aggressive presence in the supermarket industry.

Object of the agreement is GTL, born from the spin-off of the most significant division Casa di Spedizioni S. Cristoforo Autotrasporti S.p.A., a company of experience in transport sector. The company manages Colgate-Palmolive products distribution on the Italian territory. The headquarter is in Rome and this implies a proximity to the customer headquarters with the nearby Aprilia warehouse, already managed by Geodis Logistics, together with Carpiano warehouse, in northern Italy. To be noted that the acquired company has own trucks, which is in line with the characteristics of reliability and sound that have always characterized Geodis and differentiate it from much of the competitors.

Geodis Logistics in this way will strengthen its collaboration with Colgate-Palmolive, which already numbered among its customers, with regard to logistics operations and will fully exploit the synergy of warehouses activities. As stated by Alfredo Costa, Business Development Director of Geodis Logistics, "in this way we tend to build a partnership with the client, which may have a unique and reliable reference throughout the country."

This agreement emphasizes Geodis Logistics’s focus on FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) sector, whose becomes a reference operator. One of the key concepts from the strategic point of view is "collaborative logistics”. "We actually built a specific expertise in the distribution that allows us to access to collaborative logistics projects with other players in the industry - highlights Fabrizio Airoldi, Operations Director of Geodis Logistics. "Very attractive solutions become possible now. In fact same types of products from different manufacturers, but target the same distribution centers, may be dealt with improving efficiency, optimization and economic benefit. And there is another element that is particularly interesting for Geodis Logistics: with the collaborative logistic, trucks travel at full load and also the environmental impact can be significantly reduced”.
